Caol Ila 15 Year Old Unpeated
A Whiskey Review by The Whiskey Noob
An unpeated Islay Scotch?
Whaaaat???
I didnt know they made these and damn I was pleasantly surprised. It had a great flavor and just a hint of peat smoke which was just enough.
I tried this at my new favorite spot with the greatest selection in San Jose, Ca. 55 South (the55south.com)
The bartender suggested this to me and I was glad he did. I’ve seen this before, but never pulled the trigger to buy a whole bottle, but now shiieet, I just might!
This scotch just is a great example that breaks any stereotype that one: all scotches are peaty and two: all ISLAY scotches are peaty.
This is a very common theme that I keep hearing from Noobs, that all Islay scotches are peaty. I actually thought the same thing as well when I first started my whiskey drinking career.
Almost to the point where I completely AVOIDED all Islay scotches because I thought all of them were too smokey for me, which I didn’t prefer at the time.
Luckily, I never give up and keep chuggin along (literally!) and found this great dram…
I suggest you do the same!
Cheers ma noobs!
